This is the third Active trip we have taken. It was also the first with National Geographic Photographers. I must tell you I didn't think anything could be better than our trip to New Zealand, but this one even tops the Peru experience!

Our guide Pablo was AWESOME! He was a walking encyclopedia on the flora, fauna and history of the islands. Staying on the islands, meeting the people, and being comfortable enough to walk alone on the beach was the groundwork for a fabulous journey.

Ivan and Karla are the best workshop leaders I have ever had. They both shared and helped with any problem you had. The nights were late but the teaching and sharing were well worth it. The photo workshop was extremely well organized and the assignments always taught you another way to look at the world. Ivan took Tom under his wing and taught him to "see". I can't tell you what a joy that is. We can now go for a hike and he is not a mile ahead of me, he is now showing me things to photograph! Like Tom said it was a "Life changing experience.!"

All of the staff were wonderful, helpful and fun to be with. Thank You all for the Best Ever Active & Photo Trip.

I would suggest that a balance be worked out tween the "Active" part and the "Photo" part. I think I have finally caught up on my sleep. The schedule was so full I was glad we only had six of us and two instructors and Pablo. The mix was perfect now if you could just extend the hours in the day a bit it would all fit.

I was always amazed at how Active was so organized - from transportation to replacement of a sick guide! We had a rope get stuck in the prop of the boat and the driver got in that cold water and cut it out and had us back on track within 45 minutes! Once our guide told us transportation was waiting around the corner and to our surprise it was a "toot toot" one of those litte bicycle carts with a driver - we had a blast racing to the port! Things just happen - people got sick and our guide always managed to know how to take care of it. For me personally, I got altitude sickness and my guide got a horse to help me over the pass! I made it and would do it again in a heartbeat! So pick me!!!

I do not have enough words to describe how incredible the Everest Base Camp adventure is. Physically it was a definite challenge, but, the awe-inspiring mountains, amazing people and guides who are there for you 100% of the way make the whole experience amazing.

Active made my visit to Peru everything I could have hoped for and more. I had high expectations for the trip, and they were surpassed in every single way. Our guide, Elder, was incredibly knowledgeable, genuine, and on top of everything. Most of all, he was fun and let us experience the sights at our own pace, while keeping us well organized. Active mentions on its site that its guides are a mix of Bear Grylls and Steve Irwin or something like that. But Elder? I think he arm wrestled Bear Grylls and and Chuck Norris at the same time and sent them crying to their mothers. Having him around made the experience that much better - which is more than what I could have hoped for.

Thanks to this trip and the rich experiences we had, I have a lasting and indelible impression of Peru, and will always think of it fondly.

The trip definitely exceeded my expectations, it was truly an amazing experience. I was looking for a challenge, and I definitely got it. I can't say enough good things about our guide, Elder. I had some problems with altitude sickness, and he really looked after me, especially on the Lares trail. Even though he routinely runs this tour, he manages to maintain a high level of enthusiasm, and answered all of our questions thoroughly and with interest. I couldn't think of a person better suited for this job. I also really appreciated the way that Active ensured that a good mix of people were in the group, couples and singles. Just a few suggestions to make the trip even more spectacular. It would have been cool to spend a night on one of the reed island. The other suggestion would be to stay the night in a slightly nicer hotel in Puno, I wouldn't have minded paying a bit extra. After hiking the Lares trail, it would have been nice to have a shower with hot water! Had to have a cold one instead, wasn't too happy about that. But those things were pretty minor, and all in all, I had a fantastic time!

I can't believe how playful the sea lions are! They come up to you in the water and swim around you like puppy dogs! They made the trip incredible!

It is always a challenge to find a holiday that suits everyone, but Nepal did just that. Every day we were greeted by new sights, temperatures, and altitude as we made our ascent to ABC. Our 3 energetic sons (10, 12 & 14) were exercised daily (and were then ready to read & play cards with our guides and porters in the afternoons) and we all left feeling we were a little more educatd and aware of life in Nepal. It is a crazy mix of chaos and beauty, and it was a pleasure to travel with Active Himalayas and their team.

You don't have to be super fit or young to enjoy Active Adventures. Being over 65, my wife and I prepared physically for the trip. Some of the activities were beyond our capabilities, but our wonderful guides were able to suggest easier options. We did things we would never have dreamed of doing by ourselves.
