Active NZ was my first adventure tour and solo travel - and I couldn't have enjoyed it more. New Zealand is beautiful and full of fun things to do, and Active provides an amazing service to experience it all. I would readily sign up with Active to do another tour any day, especially if Sarah and Reon are the guides!

The trip (Custom Rimu Nov. 2012) was fantastic - a lot to see picturesque mountains, valleys, rivers, flora & fauna; a lot to trek and experience other outdoor activities such as kayaking, horse riding, paragliding, bicycling and bungee jumping - a very varied adventure trip indeed! It was very well planned, organised and executed. And it was customer oriented and you do get value for your money! It was a very appropriate and good idea to gradually introduce and extend trekking hours as the days passed for we needed to overcome jet lag and get acclimatised upon arriving Christchurch from tropical Singapore. Advice given by Amanda & Lauren (who doubled up as guides) on the type of clothings/gear required for each different type of trek, depending on weather, local and other conditions, was important and was much appreciated. There was enough time for photo taking sessions while trekking and Lauren & Amanda did a good job in enlightening/educating/explaining to us the different types of plants, flowers, birds that we came across. It was the first time (and a great idea!) I had come across a bus equipped with free supply of (a) various types of fresh fruits & energy bars (b) drinkable water (c) UV-block cream to prevent sunburn (d) a box of tissue paper - for clients to consume/use. It certainly saved a lot of time for clients (& organisers as well) as then clients did not have to spend time to shop/buy/stock the above said items. And also there was ample seat space in the bus for 7 of us to put our backpacks, raincoats, wind breakers, warm jackets, etc. within easy reach. Running commentaries while on the road by Lauren & Amanda were excellent as they helped us to know, relate, identify the places, rivers, buildings, mountains, plants, etc. that we encountered along the way. I liked the way Lauren drove the bus - I felt comfortable and safe with her at the wheel. Meals (mainly breakfast & lunch, and sometimes dinner) prepared by Lauren & Amanda were good and varied with plenty of fresh vegetables. It was a pleasant surprise that Amanda could cook very well and was able to come out with appetising desserts within a short time. Accommodation was good - rooms were clean, equipped with hot showers, kettles for boiling water, basic crockery, and most importantly room heaters. All in all, it was an unusual yet enjoyable and unforgettable trip. Keep up the good sevice ! !

Custom Rimu - 7 persons from Singapore. It was an unforgettable trip for all 7 of us friends. The views in South Island are stunning, the itinerary is varied and exciting, Lauren & Amanda are fantastic and never cease to surprise us and exceed our expectations. Never a dull moment on the trip. We had great fun! This is one of the best trip we had as a group in the last few years. We are truly impressed with Active NZ - from the organisation of the trip right through to the delivery of the activities and till we leave for home. A truly memorable trip for us to end our year of travelling in 2012. Thank you guys.

We had such an amazing time on this trip! Until you go and experience it for yourselves, you just can't imagine the variety and the abundance of the wildlife, or how innocent and naive the animals are. They do not exhibit the "natural" fear of humans but rather lots of curiosity and allow you to come right into their realm! The giant sea turtles and land tortoises are unforgettable and a real highlight. We enjoyed all the activities we got to do, especially the snorkelling. Being in our 60's we still participated in it all. This organization takes care of all the details for you- Jessica guided us through every experience and gave all the explanation [in flawless English] that you could possibly hope for. We'll be thinking about all we saw and did for a long time to come!

This was a great way to see the Galapagos Islands. We enjoyed hikeing, biking, kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving, swimming, boat rides, dancing on the beach, and so much wildlife everywhere it was incredible. All of this was done with great guides and in the case of scuba diving, very professional & competent dive masters. Our group was super and it was a lot of fun experiencing all of these new adventures with them. I highly recommend this company & this trip for anyone wanting to experience the Galapogos Islands.

My wife, France sent most of our comments already. Lofty and Nicole were excellent and worked well as a team. Only criticism of the itinerary is that driving up to Blenheim on our second day for winery was not worth the extra driving, given we were able to do wineries in Otago. While I realize it was our request, it was over 4 hrs of extra driving and no wine tasting is worth that! Cycling the usual route to Murchison would have made more sense. Thanks for great trip

What can I say about a trip like this? Trekking through the Himalayas is like nothing I've ever experienced. The beautiful sights are a given, but the truly unforgettable part was immersing one's self in the culture. The Nepalese people are wonderfully kind, and you can't help but feel a sense of shared experience with the other trekkers and guides. Top it all off with an incredible sense of accomplishment, and you have a truly unforgettable adventure.

Jessica is a great guide, very knowlegable and informative not just on the animals and plants, but on the economic information on the islands. Her assistant, Christian, even though there was a language problem, he was very observant and helpful to all the members of the group, a lot of potential.

Words really cannot give justice to the beauty of New Zealand. Every place we went, even when weather was less than ideal, was filled with beauty. Mel and Ben, our guides, were absolutely amazing - knowledgeable, friendly, and kind. The trip is exactly what you're looking for if your goal is to do rather than look. You earn every photo. I could not recommend the Rimu trip enough.

Awesome sights. Great group of people. Super guide. The best porters ever. And who knew the four basic food groups were rice, potatoes, Gorung bread, and porridge? Seriously, the food was tasty and plentiful. Let's go again.

The objective, Annapurna Base Camp, is miles away, and many upy-downey feet in elevations gained and lost (think thousands of feet every day) and yet, with the carefully choreographed rest stops, tea houses, and evening meal and bunk moments, totally doable to us non-guide mortals. This is a spectacular combination of Nepal culture, mountain vastness, and group camaraderie that makes it all work.

Best part of the trip was getting so lucky to travel with a great group of people/new friends. Our guide, Dan, was fantastic.... very knowledgeable with the terrain and the local people (porters, tea house owners, etc.). Hike covered more distance and was colder than I expected, but still beautiful, peaceful and memorable. Thanks again, Active, for making such a remote place on the planet accessible to me!

I have long dreamed about experiencing the Himalayas. After visiting Peru and New Zealand with Active New Zealand, the choice of tours was easy - let's go ACTIVE. We had a fabulous travel group, the most awesome guides and porters, and vistas that just didn't end. It was as hard as I'd imagined and as worthy of the effort as I'd expected.
