If you goal is to see the Himalayan landscape, I would recommend this trip. It's paced fairly well so you can acclimate, and you don't go to crazy altitudes like on the Everest Base camp trip. Anyone with a desire to see the mountains should take this trek.

A great taste of the South Island of NZ with loads of hiking, biking, and kayaking on our Rimu trip. Active offered unique and very special accommodations (especially the Shearing Lodge), lots of personal attention from our 2 tour leaders, Dave and Amanda, and a host of hiking, biking, and kayaking experiences giving us a lifetime of wonderful memories.

Anywhere, anytime, it is beautiful scenery. With good service and small surprise, positive attitude of the team... good laughs alone the whole trip... really appreciated. If anything need to improve, try to install a video in the van to kill some time, but it could miss the beautiful scenery...

Many travel organizations offer the "Trip of a Lifetime." The Annapurna Sanctuary trek actually delivered. Being in our 60s, we were concerned that we might not be up to the challenge and it was pretty demanding. However, Dan K and the Nepali guides and porters were phenomenal and could not have been more helpful and supportive. The trip was more than worth the effort expended. There are not enough adjectives and superlatives to describe the experience of hiking in the Himalayas. Even the food was fantastic; expecting to be eating Dal bhat for 10 days, who would expect to get pizza and the world's best french fries in an Annapurna tea house? The experience of Machapuchare base camp at sunset cannot be adequately captured, no matter how many pictures one takes. This was our second trip with Active Adventures. Could not recommend them more highly.

From start to finish, the trip was well planned and had just the right amount of activity and rest. Cynthia was a delight! She made us feel as if we were the best group that she had ever been in charge of. We all got along so well and there was room for some of us to deviate from the schedule when necessary. I appreciated her ever positive attitude and friendly nature. We saw amazing sights and met wonderful people everywhere we went. Peru is such a fascinating country with so many cultures and climates. All the people we met were open and welcoming. The local guides were very knowledgeable. They added so much to our experience with their interesting explanations. Bottom line: i loved it!

We quite enjoyed this trip. We had great guides (we could even say Lofty guides) who were pleasant and adapted themselves to our group. We very much appreciated the extra wineries added to the itinerary. The scenery was fantastic but the weather was a little difficult. We could have done without the snow and hail of the last day through Dansey's pass, although we did this trip in early spring. We were kept well fed with lots of snacks during the day and advice to always keep drinking to stay strong. I certainly recommend this trip for anyone who wants to have an active trip with spectacular scenery and excellent local cuisine and wine, what else do you want!

I worked with two different groups and they were both fantastic. I bonded slightly better with this group most likely because we all started the trip together. Also, physically I fit into this group better. The other group had some very competent hikers and I thought I was somewhat slow in that group.

I started my Rimu trip on the last half of this tour. I knew it might not be easy fitting in with a group that had already been together for a week. I was happy to find the people in my group very friendly and helpful. The guides Ben and Mel were wonderful and made me feel comfortable right away. My only complaint was not in the trip but in the booking process. I know it's difficult early in the season to know how many people are signing up. As you know my original plans were changed after I had booked flights and scheduled my vacation. I recommend that you offer less trips early in the season or let people know how many are signed up (or not) early in the process and offer backups if that trip does not take place. Once we did have my plans finalized, everyone did what was necessary to make up for my inconvenience. Because I enjoyed the tour so much I am thinking of Active Himalayas for next year.

The trip was great everything was on time and went according to schedule. Our trip leaders were always on the spot and every detail accounted for! No "hiccups" what so ever! They even had the sun scheduled to shine everyday!
