Aotearoa is truly a magical kingdom of rugged glacier scarring and pristine rainforest landscapes. Where else in the world can you photograph a palm tree and a glacier in the same frame?!? We had a Yellow-Eyed Penguin say hello after retreating from an ancient fern like tramp in the UNESCO forest. You feel so alive with the constant weather changes and clean mountain air. People are so friendly and the wildlife is so unique. The guides make the trip fun by relaying the kiwi culture and bringing the native Maori customs to life. A perfect blend of photography and back country exploring. John Brill, Durango, Colorado,USA

After about a 20 second rethink, I made the decision to go for it. It's now or never Peggy. The Bungy Jump. Simple instructions - do your best swan dive. So I did, and it was the most exhilarating feeling - to be flying through the air - blue water rushing up to you - wind in your face - too scared to even close my eyes - and then it's over! I can't wait to do it again!
This is my third trip with Active. Each one has been unique and geared to that country's geology, flora, fauna and people. I have learned so much and have had experiences I will never forget and memories to last a lifetime - until my next trip to somewhere vastly different and spectacular. Active is a well oiled adventure firm which I would highly recommend to anyone in search of going someplace and doing things that one could never do where they live. Go for it.

A wonderful sampling of the active adventures offered by the South Island. We had mostly great weather. The one very rainy day (6 inches on the Routeburn Track) gave us great views of waterfalls along the road and a taste of NZ rainfall.

I enjoyed all aspects. The Tongariro alpine crossing was especially outstanding, but Waitomo Caves, mountain biking, and the Maori feast were also great.

A very well-organised trip with attention to detail. Covered a wide area of NZ South Island allowing for the holiday maker to appreciate the diversity of the country.

When I was first looking to book a trip to New Zealand, I requested a brochure from Active NZ from your website. Imagine my surprise when I received a very friendly phone call the next day verifying my request and promising that my brochure would arrive very soon. The brochure arrived, and we decided on a trip, but had to postpone it for a year. Occasionally I would get a call from Active NZ just checking how our plans were coming along...these calls were very helpful in reminding me how much I wanted a trip to NZ, and the friendliness just encouraged me all the more! In Feb. of 2010, I finally booked our trip, printed out all the information and started getting ready. Because all of my interactions were so positive, and your website and the OBI program are so fantastic, I expected that the trip would be every bit as well run. Wellll... it was even better than I had hoped! Cam and Dan were so focused on giving us a good experience. Their sharing of responsibilities was extremely effective, and we felt like royalty in their care. They were always busy making sure that everything was ready and wonderful for us. All we had to worry about was enjoying the beautiful hikes, the delicious food, the lovely accommodations (some more lovely than others, but all very interesting!) and having a good time with our group. I especially enjoyed the interaction that our group had with both Cam and Dan. They are both very personable and fun. I enjoyed their stories as well their knowledge of the areas we visited. I would recommend this trip to anyone who loves getting out and enjoying the beauty of nature, and also likes adventure and getting the most out of visiting an area, all the while with someone else doing the planning, scheduling and WORK! Oh... did I say that I loved this trip???

Our trip was awesome. It was the best organized trip that we have ever been on. The itinery was great, the guides, Daniel S. and Cam, were the best and the rest of the group were great.

This was a wonderful trip! Not only was the scenery amazing but the entire trip was carefully orchestrated to show us the best, off the beaten track places. Not as active as I am used to, but well suited for a wide range of people and a lot of fun. I totally recommend this trip.

They say that in Peru you become awakened. I must say I have seen what they mean. From the moment you step off the plane, you cease to be an American or an Aussie, or wherever you are from and become a Peruvian. The people welcome you as one of their own. The culture makes you want to be a part of it. Our guide, Arturo was the best. When my luggage was lost, he himself became as tenacious as a jaguar to get it back.

I was blessed with a wonderful group of travellers who enjoyed each others' company and worked to get to know one another. I was also blessed with two fantastic guides - Lina and Sarah. I couldn't have asked for better guides, who are also wonderful individuals. Finally, I was blessed with fantastic weather during my 2 weeks. What more could you ask for? All the reviews were wonderful, but I will admit, they did not do justice to my trip.

We were fortunate to have Pablo as tour guide becasue he is a graduate biologist. His knowledge of flora and fauna is quite complete. His attentiveness to our comfort was also exemplary. Contacts between marine life, land creatures, and all those things that fly were over the top. Definitely a trip for anyone who values imtimate contact with nature and preservation of diversity in living things.
