I knew by the second day when my stomach already hurt from laughing so much that this would be an amazing trip. I expected/hoped to see beautiful sites, do some cool things and come back with some great memories. Who knew I'd be so lucky to also come back with some new friends. Thanks for a truly incredible experience!

Who said a small group isn't as much fun as a bigger group! Ask Dan our intrepid trip leader, we were a group of 4, but we fit in so much more. We got going a tad faster, we were all the timely and organized types, so we got in a bit of extra fun here and there thanks to a super creative and awesome trip leader. Thank you for that little bit of extra everything!

Our guides were not only knowledgeable about many aspects of the history, geology, and wildlife, but brought elements of fun and adventure to every day. My husband booked the trip. I didn't look seriously at the trip until a few days before we left when I went looking for the packing list. We were traveling with our friends and they and my husband had made the plans and signed up for the three day backpack. (My husband promised me that my pack would weigh 25 pounds or less. Lol.) I realized that I might be in over my head as I went through the site. Add to that my restricted dietary requirements and I was sure the trip was going to be a disaster. (PS. I am 52. ) Our Rimu trip started with the backpack first. With extra food, I could barely lift my backpack to move it, much less carry it. (Good thing I work out ....) By dinner that night I had made it through two days and knew that Daniel was going to safely feed me. This is no easy feat. I have been to many 4-5 stars restaurants that made me ill. The second day my husbands pack was at least five pounds heavier and I actually enjoyed first half of the hike. Did I mention the bee sting? Why does the person most likely to have a problem get stung? Right through the sock. Guide Gemma was right there with me and stuck to me like glue until we knew I was ok. When we got to the "wee" hill the weather got a"wee" bad. Ok straight up hill and pouring rain and hurricane winds. (Did I mention I am from Florida...no hills, but familiar with hurricane force winds...) I found out that you are serious about rain gear in NZ, and that mine was sadly ineffective. I was almost at the top and got blown over cutting my shin, of course just over the bee sting... Gemma was right there with us, calm and unruffled talking us up. Did I mention she was carrying her pack and the pack of another woman. Lashed together. In the rain and wind on the rocky, steep hill. Needless to say this was the worst and in a weird way best part of the trip. When challenged it is always amazing what inner strength and resilience you have. I got to the top cold, wet and hurt and had a meltdown. But for the rest of the trip everything that appeared difficult, or I would have been anxious about doing (I haven't ridden a bike in 20 years....) was cake. We had a fabulous time. Your guides are organized, prepared, hardworking, and exceptionally well trained. We had an awesome group of interesting people from all over the world. The trip had a wonderful down home feel. By the time we left we were truly in love with your beautiful country and warm friendly people.

Each day was like opening a new present under the Christmas tree. Each day was just as exciting and fun and wonderful as the day before. When Ii went to bed, I just couldn't wait for the next morning - wondering what wonderful site or activity I would be experiencing.

Both Lofty and Gwyneth made the trip. They made an excellent team complimenting each other's personalities and skills. They went out of their way to look after each and everyone on the trip. They paid attention to the different wishes of the group to make sure that everyone was cared for and looked after. The accomodations were excellent and the food was delicious.The only reason I gave it four stars and not five was the amount of time spent on the bus. This was really just a factor of geography and is not a reflection on the guides or Active New Zealand. The trip was very well organized and everything ran like clock work.

Absolutely a trip of a lifetime. We must admit, we had high expectations of the 8 day Tui trip, but it completely exceeded them beyond our wildest dreams! The Siberia Valley wilderness experience, including the jetboat ride and scenic flight, was definitely the highlight for us. Thanks so much Active, including our fabulous guides, Ben and Louise. We have so many awesome memories, amazing photos and new friends from our time in New Zealand.

This was an amazing experience. Honestly, at first I thought the cost was high but when I realized how many activities we did, the food and lodging it was a very fair price! The guides were awesome, especially Tim. I saw and did things I could previously only imagine!

I know I should have written this review several weeks ago but everytime I think of our 'Tui' trip I start to feel sad - sad that it is all over, sad that I have left all that sunshine and beautiful scenery behind and sad that I may never again fly up to Siberia in a 6-seater plane and walk up to 'knicker level' in a cold river or kayak on Milford Sound on a glorious morning. The trip was truly amazing. Lofty and Alexis were excellent guides, full of knowledge and stories and bad jokes. Their cooking was delicious and sustaining. And their organizational skills were impressive, particularly when getting a group of people in holiday mode breakfasted, out and embarked on a trek before said people had even worked out what day it was. I am now saving hard to be able to come back to NZ before too long in the hope that I won't be too old to enjoy some more of those activities that you are so good at organizing.

We had a great couple guides, a great group and had the most amazing adventure I could have imagined! You gave us an exceptional level of quality in all of our experiences on the trip from the meals to the tramps! Also, we were challenged mentally and physically by the events on the trip plan (in a very good way!) and that really made the trip truly incredible for me! This trip was a great value!

Everyone asks what was the best thing about the trip, and my answer usually is that EVERYONE was so incredibly friendly and genuine. Lina, our guide, even loaned me her hiking shoes for virtually the entire trip when mine fell apart.
