This trip was everything I had hoped and much more. The Southern Island of New Zealand is every bit as beautiful as I hoped. I found Active New Zealand to be extremely organized. They have this down tight. They don't skimp on anything and they show you everything. Our guide Ken was the most patient, amiable, energetic, slightly crazy companion you could imagine. I have never met a person more suited to his profession than Ken. We could not have been more impressed.

The itinerary was well-designed, and our guides led us through it with both efficiency and enthusiasm. Their knowledge of the country and all the sites combined with their jovial company made it a memorable trip.

Every other mountain range I have ever seen would qualify as a foothill to Himalayas. Simply viewing these mountains takes ones breath away.Trekking in them made me treasure very molecule of oxygen as if it were a rare and valuable element (which indeed it is). The experience of hiking to Everest base camp will loom as one of those adventures that will continue to visit me for the rest of my life....thank you Active Himalayas for making it all happen.

What a fabulous trip! Patagonia is amazing, from the sights that will take your breath away to the people that will welcome you with a smile and open arms. Not knowing the language, I imagined I would feel overwhelmed. Cynthia was a fantastic bridge between cultures, always available to assist with traslations and constantly educating the group about the area and the people. Her love for the region is obvious and her excitement absolutely contagious! Fantastic trip with a fantastic leader!

Overall, we had a fantastic time/week in New Zealand! Magnus was nothing short of magnificent and Tim had superb work ethics. Both tour guides helped in making this trip one of the most wonderful experiences we've ever had.

This really is one of those few-in-a-lifetime experiences - a beautiful beautiful country, a well-organized trip, and lots of different activities that strike a fine balance between giving you enough to do and see, and not overwhelming you.

If you want to see the wonders and beauty of the South Island this is the way to go! There is no better way than to explore this country than by foot, kayak or bike. And you will be given the opportunity to see parts of the island many tourists never do! Even members of my family who live on the South Island thought this would be a great way to see their own country!

My Jaguar journey far exceeded expectations, was great value, educational, well organized and such a lot of fun. The Active guides were outstanding, Arturo went above and beyond the call of duty on every single occasion, mixing his finely tuned sense of humor with required empathy or support whenever required. He is indeed knowledgable and an impressive man of high calibre. Gerson impressed with his huge knowledge but even more admirable was his patience and support of team members whenever or wherever he was needed. ... One slight criticism ... Occasionally our guides were not totally prepared for the weather extremes and had to stand in t shirts in pouring rain or on the top of a hill in hail or howling wind... I realize probably not a ' do or die' situation but a $2 poncho works wonders. This is a very small flaw in an otherwise well oiled machine.
Another slight annoyance, but who knows how it could be changed, the rare occurrence of a hot shower in our hotel in Cuzco, this hotel otherwise worked perfectly for our home away from home, however a hot shower, even a time limited one, is an essential wind down after a long physical day and more often than not someone had been there first, alas luke warm at best.
Call me thick but I didn't totally understand the concept of leaving our larger bag in storage at our hotel and use our smaller sports bag for each individual 4 day journey. A friend who had earlier walked the Inca Trail ,explained the concept more fully and I was perfectly prepared and very happy with how the system worked. However, I didn't fully understand this concept from the website, maybe eliminate the information that we would use the porters special bags for the Inca trail, maybe this is too much info and makes the 2 bag concept confusing..... Or maybe it's just me!!!
I was just so happy to have been so well cared for by such outstanding guides that I have already sold the Active South America to 2 kiwi friends and will definitely become a repeat customer.
    Cheers Jo-Anne Walker

We had a great time. My partner and I have differing fitness levels and our guide, Duck handled this very well. All of the activities were well thought out and very enjoyable. We arrived at most locations with time to add a short run or hike in before dinner or breakfast. As I am in training for a 1/2 Ironman, I needed to get in some training and the schedule was flexible enough for me to run a few times.
The food was excellent and plentiful. Kate took special care to accommodate everyone's food preferences and is an excellent, creative cook. There were plenty of snack choices as well.
I took tons of great pictures but never used the zoom lens I brought. I was too busy enjoying the activities to spend time changing lenses. Also, even though it rained on a few days, I never used the rain pants (used the rain jacket a bunch). The gaiters and binoculars were never used either. The bug spray is a good item to have even in the fall.
We did the biking trip option. Tanglewood B&B is worth a great recommendation as well. Great facilities and Linda was an excellent host. Our bike guide, Aaron, was also friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible.

Don't ignore the North Island would be my advice to anyone travelling to New Zealand for the first time. It has its own special attributes and charm and enables the cultural as well as the 'active' side of New Zealand to be explored. Despite getting soaked by the rain and blown around by the wind this proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable trip. It offers a diverse experience from culture and traditionally cooked food to walking through native forests, driving through rollling green hills created from past volcanic activity, a first hand appreciation of geothermal activity, the adrenaline rush of forest biking and a trip to the Waitomo caves. Another suggestion would be don't pass up on any of the activities as they are what makes this trip exciting and allow friendships to be made through shared experiences: I don't think I've screamed and laughed so much simultaneously as when forest biking - awesome! The only negative point for me about this trip was that it was over too soon! Kauri is short and sweet but somehow we managed to see and do an awful lot, gaining a feel of the main aspects of North Island in just 5 days, so it probably should remain this way.

Tui was literally the time of my life! The action is non-stop. So many incredible experiences packed into eight days it's impossible to pick the best. Flying into the Siberia valley, hiking to Lake Crucible with all the river crossings truly was a real hard-core adventure. Staying at the hut and the jet boat out the next day was a blast. Kayaking in the beauty of Milford Sound with dolphins and seals close enough to reach out and touch was beyond words! The Kepler track in particular was like being in LOTR -- I expected an elf or a hobbit to pop out at any minute. The break in Queenstown even offered a chance to do a bit (maybe more than a bit) of partying! As far as the guides go, there are no words to adequately compliment Lauren and Magnus. I have been on guided adventure trips in the past but Lauren and Magnus are in a league of their own! They filled every moment with fun. Their enthusiasm, knowledge of the environment, and obvious joy for what they do was contagious. And they had a special way of leading the trip without it feeling like we were on some type of tight schedule - they really made us all feel like a real team. I will miss them!

Our Condor trip was amazing. Our guide, Cynthia, was always prepared, organized, and smiling, and went out of her way to make sure everyone was happy and comfortable.
The hiking trails were well-maintained and took us to magnificent places, but the hikes are definitely not for couch potatoes!
Accomodations were clean and more modern than I expected, with friendly staff. The food was exceptional, with plenty of vegetarian options.
Overall, I'd give it an A+!
